Virtual Identity for Artists
A guest lecture and live build on shaping an artist's online presence: website vs. social platforms, planning a site, preparing files for the web, and building a portfolio with Cargo.
Your virtual identity is often the first studio visit — the way curators, jurors, and collaborators meet your work before they meet you. This talk for Concordia's Survival Tactics frames the artist's online presence as an ecosystem: a website you own (your studio) and the social platforms and listings you rent (the group show), all pointing back to a home base.
The session pairs concepts with practical craft — deciding what's public, private, or mixed; planning a site with a sitemap; documenting work and preparing images and video for the web; and a live demo building a portfolio site with Cargo. Aimed at a mixed studio / fine-arts audience across photography, sculpture, painting, and video.
